These brown leather covers that have little gilt stamped flowers in each of the four corners of the cover connected by a gilt stamped triple-line border. The edges of the covers and the square (area of the cover visible around the textblock) are gilt stamped with abstract designs. The spine has been repaired with the new leather a lighter brown than the covers, and gilt stamped to match as much as possible the existing gilting. The edges of the textblock are coated in gold (a.e.g.).
The endpapers are a gray stone marbling pattern surrounded by red, black, yellow, blue, and white veining with smaller white stones scattered over the top of the larger stones and veining.
The paper is made of old rags and some of the original fibers are still visible. The type has left deep impressions in the paper which can be felt with a fingertip.
