Description
Red dyed leather covers with a simple line border with a Fleur-de-lis in the four corners of the front and back covers and a gilt stamping on the edges of the covers. The second compartment has a black leather insert with a version of the title gilt with gilt borders around it. The other compartments have a pattern of lines, dots, Fleur-de-lis, and a hand-shape. The top and bottom compartments have a floral border. There is an indistinct gilt stamped pattern on the edges of the book, it looks like circles, half-circles, and lines.
The edges of the textblock have been covered with gold leaf. The paper is made of old rags, and the type has bit a little into the paper. The map has been tipped-in and both it and the vignettes look like they may have been cut into a copper plate, and in fact, the vignette on the title page has a faint plate line around the image.
