THE WORLD OF LOUIS COMFORT TIFFANY | TAKEO HORIUCHI | THE ANCHORMAN COLLECTION | 1994 | 1ST EDITION
This book is stored in a book box (slipcase), which is used to keep the book free from dirt, and to protect against shelf-wear and sun damage. The inside is padded with felt. The exterior is covered in faded blue-purple watered silk, with gilt stamped lettering. The sun fading on the box is uneven, and ranges from a light blue to purple.
This book has dark blue-purple covers that are made of plastic which encase the regular boards of the book. The plastic features bevelled edges, and looks like glass. The front cover features a beautiful inlay of one of Tiffany’s stained glass pieces, surrounded by a raised gilt border. The lettering on the front cover is in raised gold, as is the lettering and seal on the back cover. The spine is not plastic but cloth and is imprinted with the title and editor’s name in gold.
The endpapers are made of thick paper, and feature textured grey leatherized paper. The text of this book alternates between English and Japanese, because at the time of this book’s publication, a new Tiffany museum was opening in Japan. This is the only book from Japan in Special Collections that did not originally belong to Marifrances Engelhardt’s brother, Daniel Pfeiffer.
